my Half Marathon update.

First of all, I did not stick to the 8 week training plan I set up (link). I probably ran about half as much as I should have and ate way too much the last couple of weeks. It was around my birthday and was going out to lunch alot and blah blah blah. I did run a 5 mile race 2 weeks ago and finished in 47:48 with a 9:35 mile pace. Not too shabby, for me.

how to paint a painting …

how to paint a painting … the Ben Swift way. I find that I follow this process a lot. I paint start one direction, then go another way, sometimes taking 3 or 4 tracks before I figure out where I’m going. So I thought I could take you along on the ride.

I just invented the most wonderful drink!

it’s called AWESOME POWER!all you need is:

Spoon
Pint Glass
Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate
Vanilla Extract
Vodka
Mountain Dew (diet if preferred)

Scoop 1 tblspn Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate into Pint Glass
Pour Vodka to cover
Add 1 drop Vanilla Extract
Stir
Add Mountain Dew as desired - 10 oz seems to be about right
Stir a little more
ENJOY!

This seems to be a delicious summertime drink. You could add ice as needed. Be forwarned: this drink could be considered delicious and is probably lethal in large doses. To quote David Chapelle as Samuel Jackson, “It’ll get you drunk!”

My 8 week Half Marathon trainer

OK so- if you started tomorrow- and you followed this simple training guide:

8_week_marathon_trainer copy.pdf

you would be able to run a Half Marathon in 8 weeks. That’s 13 miles. Don’t believe me?

It’s a fact. I did it earlier this year, and now I am going to do it again. If I can do it- you can do it. Also- read the book The Non-Runner’s Marathon Trainer as it can be a big help.

DO IT!

*my 8 week Half Marathon trainer begins at 3 miles, so if you are not comfortable running 3 miles yet, you will have to adjust the numbers. Just make sure you run 10 miles at least once, and don’t run much the last week. Also- don’t think I am some great runner! I just aim to finish again!

use Speedball Diazo Photo Emulsion

In screenprinting, there are many variables that contribute to the success or failure of your project. Emulsion may be the most important variable, and it’s one of the easiest things to screw up. Of the half dozen-or-so emulsions I have tried, I have found Speedball Diazo Photo Emulsion to be the best, for me.

OK - so here is the basic, Award Winning* HOW-TO information you need to use SDPE successfully, everytime, every screen.

supercharge a hand sprayer

you probably have a hand sprayer like this at your sink

or maybe one like this that attaches to your shower. but these don’t put out the kind of PSI you need for getting dried crap off your plates or spaying emulsion out of a screen. you need to supercharge it with a little bit of your DIY skills and a little Gorilla Glue.
